Hello! My name is Angela Lafreniere, a self-taught artist who has fallen in love with Pyrography and Pastels.  I find so much happiness in creating art pieces that capture the essence of my subjects. I deeply appreciate nature's allure and unwavering attention to detail.  I pour my heart and soul into each hand-burned creation and each pastel painting. From lifelike portraits to wildlife and serene landscapes, every piece carries its spirit and soul.

My journey as an artist began years ago in the early 2000s, alongside my late husband, Hal, who was a talented tattoo artist and my mentor.  I tattooed professionally for 8 years until roadblocks in life popped up, and we decided to shut down our shop.  After quite a few years of creating nothing, I decided to do a wood-burning for a Christmas gift, and that started my new art journey.

     When I started Pyrography, I discovered a kinship between the intricate art of tattooing and the unique craft of wood-burning. This sparked a renewed passion in me, and I began to explore deeper into the art of Pyrography.

A few years later, I decided to experiment with soft pastels in order to incorporate vibrant colors into my work. Through this exploration, I have learned a great deal and found a more colorful medium in which to express myself and create.

     My commissioned pieces have found their way into homes throughout the United States and England, and the hope of expanding my reach is exciting but also scary.  As Charred Treasures, my ultimate goal is to share my feelings, vision, and love of nature through my artwork.  For custom pieces and commissions, it is to bring your ideas or memories to life, creating art that will stand the test of time.  I invite you to make this journey with me!
