Hey there! Have you ever heard of pyrography or pyrogravure? It's an incredible art form where individuals create beautiful artwork using wood and fire. Some call it poker work, too, and guess what? Archaeologists have unearthed prehistoric pieces that go way back, like to 206 BC. Of course, since that time and throughout history, the art form has taken on new levels, and new tools have been created.
Pastels have been loved for their vibrant colors since the sixteenth century when Leonardo da Vinci was a fan. They surged in popularity in the eighteenth and late nineteenth centuries and are still a hit today. Pastels look so bright and lively because they don't contain any yellowing resins and reflect light from the finely ground powder. They're opaque, so they don't need super bright paper underneath to shine. In the eighteenth century, artists preferred using blue or gray paper for their slightly rough texture.
Now, let me tell you my personal story. In 2021, I stumbled upon this phenomenal art while brainstorming a perfect gift for someone dear to me. And oh boy, it was love at first touch! I was captivated when I delicately pressed that heated nib(tip) against the wood. Since then, I've been happily crafting unique and truly one-of-a-kind artworks for others to cherish. How I wish I had uncovered this earlier in my life!
But my journey doesn't end there. I also create realistic art in the enchanting world of pastels. So, come on in and take a peek around! I'm so grateful you found your way to my website. Feel free to explore, and if you have any questions or want to connect, reach out anytime. Thank you for joining me on this artistic adventure!
